Softball Recap: Wheeling Park's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Wheeling Park had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 9-6 victory over the Petersburg Vikings on Saturday. For the Patriots, this counts as revenge for the 7-6 win the Vikings walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

The team relied heavily on Bryn Ernest, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Brenna Tipton, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Wheeling Park's victory bumped their record up to 9-12. As for Petersburg, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-5.

Coming up, Wheeling Park will welcome St. Marys at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Blue Devils will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Patriots surely won't give up without a fight. As for Petersburg, they will venture away from home to square off against Pendleton County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
