Baseball Recap: Riverside Takes a Loss

Riverside had lost five straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 2-8 to make it six. They came up short against the Lakeside Eagles, falling 11-1. The game snapped a strange streak: the last five times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Riverside saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cody Wilson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI. That RBI marked the first that Wilson has brought in this season.

As for Lakeside, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-7. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games.

On Lakeside's side, Kannon Almond and Jonah Starr did most of the damage at the plate: Almond went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Starr went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one RBI. Starr has become a key player for the Eagles: the team is 5-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Mason Thomas, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base.
