Basketball Game Preview: Pearl City Wolves vs. Dakota Indians

Pearl City hasn't had much luck against Dakota recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Pearl City Wolves will take on the Dakota Indians in a holiday battle at at 5:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Pearl City will head into Monday's matchup on the come-up: they were handed a heart-breaking three-point defeat in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Orangeville on Monday. Pearl City blew past Orangeville, posting a 66-28 win. That 38 point margin sets a new team best for the Wolves this season.

Meanwhile, Dakota posted their closest victory since January 8th on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against River Ridge, sneaking past 66-64. Given the Indians' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 86th, while the Wildcats are ranked 411th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Dakota has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for Pearl City, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Pearl City skirted past Dakota 53-50 in their previous meeting back in January. Does Pearl City have another victory up their sleeve, or will Dakota turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
