Basketball Recap: Layton Christian Academy Piles Up the Points Against Providence Hall

Layton Christian Academy's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 65-16 win over the Providence Hall Patriots. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-10.

Leading Layton Christian Academy to victory were Ava Smith and Fabiana Lopez. Smith dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 boards, while Lopez went 6 of 10 on her way to 14 points in addition to six assists and five steals. Smith has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last three times she's played. Penelope Arroyo was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Layton Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Layton Christian Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.3 points per game. As for Providence Hall, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-13.

Layton Christian Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 42-40 defeat against Juan Diego Catholic on the 30th. As for Providence Hall, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 50-34 loss against Summit Academy on the 30th.
