Basketball Recap: Lydia Fuchs Key Part of a Team Effort in Shamrocks Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against River, Barnesville was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Shadyside Tigers as the Barnesville Shamrocks made off with a 53-31 victory. The Shamrocks pushed the score to 51-17 by the end of the third, a deficit the Tigers cut but never quite recovered from.

Barnesville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lydia Fuchs led the charge by going 6 for 11 on her way to 12 points. The dominant performance gave Fuchs a new career-high in points. Aiva Leasure was another key player, putting up eight points along with seven boards and five assists.

Barnesville has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-9 record this season. As for Shadyside, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-15.

Barnesville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 44-38 loss against Bellaire on the 27th. Shadyside has also already played their next contest, a 62-29 defeat against Shenandoah on the 27th.
