Volleyball Recap: Mt. Vernon Extends Home Winning Streak to Seven

Mt. Vernon proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by three) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a set and slipped past the Cathedral Fighting Irish 3-2. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Marauders also won the last time the pair played back in August of 2024.

Mt. Vernon was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (106-105), but they still managed to win. The match finished with set scores of 19-25, 25-23, 21-25, 25-22, 15-11.

Aubry Dowling was a one-woman wrecking crew as she had 28 digs and two aces. That's the most digs she has posted since back in September of 2024.

Mt. Vernon's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0. As for Cathedral, they moved to 3-2 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Mt. Vernon didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-2 win against Noblesville on the 20th. As for Cathedral, they have also already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Brownsburg on the 20th.
