Softball Recap: Southold/Greenport Settlers vs. Center Moriches Red Devils

Southold/Greenport extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to six on Monday, dropping their season record down to 0-5 in the process. They lost 17-1 to the Center Moriches Red Devils. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Red Devils this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-1 on April 8th.

As for Center Moriches, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games.

For Center Moriches' part, Olivia Haney made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Haney was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Ashlan Higgins was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Ella Cerillo was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one run.
