Basketball Recap: Justin Castlen Key Part of a Team Effort in Bears Win

Butler County lost to Grayson County last Friday, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Butler County Bears enjoyed a cozy 78-62 victory over the Grayson County Cougars. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bears.

Butler County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Justin Castlen, who went 8 of 14 en route to 24 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. That's the most points Castlen has posted since back in December of 2024. Ty Price was another key player, going 9 for 21 on his way to 25 points and four steals.

Butler County pushed their record up to 13-12 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.0 points over those games. As for Grayson County, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 17-6.

Butler County has already played their next game, an 85-69 victory against Madisonville-North Hopkins on the 10th. Grayson County has also already played their next match (against Greenwood), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
