Football Game Preview: Victoria West Warriors vs. Boerne Greyhounds

Two dominant signal callers in Nolan Boyce and Grant Sweeney are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Victoria West Warriors will take on the Boerne Greyhounds at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Friday, Victoria West came up short against Alamo Heights and fell 54-42. The loss was the Warriors' first of the season.

Victoria West might have lost, but man, Jeret Swanson was a machine: he picked up 158 receiving yards and one TD. Swanson's longest reception was for an incredible 71 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenesis Jeffries, who rushed for 61 yards and one touchdown on only six carries.

Meanwhile, Boerne had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.5 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They blew past the Indians 49-14. The result was nothing new for the Greyhounds, who have now won three contests by 24 points or more so far this season.

Victoria West better keep an eye on Eli Nikolas. He was instrumental in Boerne's win, picking up 147 receiving yards and a pair of scores. They also got help from Zachry Fraiser, who showed off his sure hands for 108 receiving yards.

Having lost for the first time this season, Victoria West fell to 6-1. As for Boerne, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.

The upcoming matchup will be a clash of competing strengths. Victoria West has deployed a run-first offense that has averaged 258.9 rushing yards a game. Meanwhile, Boerne has preferred to attack from the air: they average 304.5 passing yards per game. So which strategy will prevail on Friday? There's only one way to find out.
