Volleyball Recap: Sutherland Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Sutherland can now relate to. They fell just short of the Brady Eagles by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. While the Sailors didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Eagles 25-23 in the first set.

Sutherland took Brady into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking five-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-13, 25-22, 19-25, 15-10.

Mahala Vasquez paced Sutherland's offense, picking up 20 kills. Vasquez got some help from Gracyn Elfeldt and her 35 assists. Vasquez was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Brady can attribute much of their success to Hallie Johnson, who had 14 digs.

Sutherland's loss dropped their record down to 11-19. As for Brady, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 21-9.

As of now, neither Sutherland nor Brady have any future games scheduled.
