Volleyball Recap: Payton College Prep Takes a Loss

The Payton College Prep Grizzlies didn't have quite enough to beat the Chicago Washington Patriots on Thursday and fell 2-1.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Payton College Prep sadly wound up on the wrong side. The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 22-25, 27-25.

Jason Beerkens paced Payton College Prep's offense, picking up seven kills. Beerkens got some help from Alexander Dragoshanskiy and his 20 assists. Finally, Roman Artymovych kept Payton College Prep's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

Payton College Prep has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season. As for Chicago Washington, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-6.

Payton College Prep didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-1 victory against Lincoln Park on the 28th. As for Chicago Washington, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Rich Township on the 28th.
