Baseball Game Preview: Piedmont Highlanders vs. Bishop O'Dowd Dragons

For the second straight game, Piedmont will face off against Bishop O'Dowd. The Highlanders will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Dragons at 4:00 p.m. Piedmont's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Bishop O'Dowd's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Piedmont will bounce into Thursday's match after beating Bishop O'Dowd, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Highlanders walked away with a 7-4 win over the Dragons on Tuesday. Surprisingly, this marked the Highlanders' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

George Bishop looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Markos Lagios was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Diego Delventhal, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and one double.

Piedmont has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. As for Bishop O'Dowd, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-13-1 record this season.
