Baseball Recap: Emmett Huskies vs. Columbia Wildcats

Emmett had lost four straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 2-16 to make it five. They lost 16-1 to the Columbia Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-3 back in March.

Layden Korell was cooking despite his team's loss, earning one run and three stolen bases. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

Columbia is 4-1 when DeLeon posts two or more runs, but 1-12 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Corbin Bolander, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and three RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Emmett will face off against Skyview at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Columbia, they will take on Caldwell at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.4 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of.
