Basketball Game Preview: Kelly Catholic Bulldogs vs. Frassati Catholic Falcons

The Kelly Catholic Bulldogs are taking a road trip to challenge the Frassati Catholic Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Kelly Catholic will be strutting in after a win while Frassati Catholic will be coming in after a loss.

Kelly Catholic played in conference for the first time on Tuesday and they got just the result they we're looking for. They strolled past The Woodlands Christian Academy with points to spare, taking the game 29-15.

Mattie Holmes was her usual excellent self, putting up 15 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Kelly Catholic's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Abigail Brown, who posted six points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, Frassati Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They took a blow against Legacy Prep Christian Academy, falling 57-13. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 816th, while the Lions are ranked 151st).

Kelly Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-14 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.0 points per game. As for Frassati Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.

Kelly Catholic strolled past Frassati Catholic in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 by a score of 48-34. Does Kelly Catholic have another victory up their sleeve, or will Frassati Catholic turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
