The Pittsburg Pirates will venture away from home to take on the Los Gatos Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Pittsburg not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since November 15, 2024 (when they won 35-14). They were the clear victors by a 41-20 margin over Marin Catholic. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Pirates just coasted through the last quarter.
Pittsburg's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rolph (RJ) Mosley Jr., who picked up 124 receiving yards and one TD. Deveon Wilson got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, while Los Gatos put up plenty of points last Friday, the same can't be said for Burlingame. The Wildcats really took it to the Panthers for the full four quarters, racking up a 49-0 victory. The Wildcats' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Pittsburg better keep an eye on Grayson Doslak. He was instrumental in Los Gatos' win, rushing for 74 yards and four touchdowns. Those four rushing touchdowns gave Doslak a new career-high. Another rusher making a difference was Devonte Troutt, who gained 107 total yards and a touchdown.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Los Gatos proved: they limited Burlingame to a paltry 0.8 yards per carry. The team can thank Jared Newman for the heroic effort on defense: he. Los Gatos didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 11.1.
Pittsburg's record now sits at 3-1. As for Los Gatos, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Pittsburg strolled past Los Gatos when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a score of 37-20. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
