Basketball Game Preview: Wesley Chapel Wildcats vs. Mitchell Mustangs

The Wesley Chapel Wildcats will head out on the road to take on the Mitchell Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Wesley Chapel is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Jesuit just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 63-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Mitchell beat Palm Harbor University 66-61 on Thursday.

Mitchell's win came from a few key players Wesley Chapel will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Christopher Stoddart, who posted 19 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. Those three steals gave him a new career-high. Fillipe Frangie was another key player, putting up 15 points and eight rebounds.

The victory got Mitchell back to even at 9-9. As for Wesley Chapel, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-5.

Wesley Chapel was able to grind out a solid win over Mitchell in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, winning 76-64. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Mitchell's Ben Unger, who went 10 of 17 on his way to 26 points and eight boards.
