Softball Recap: Penobscot Valley Beats Stearns for Their Ninth Straight Victory

Penobscot Valley put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They never let the Stearns Minutemen get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. 11 seems to be a good number for the Howlers as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Penobscot Valley let Charlotte Dube and Ellie Austin run wild. Dube went 1-for-3 with three RBI and two runs, while Austin went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave Dube a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lila Cummings, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Penobscot Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .577. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .559 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Penobscot Valley's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0. As for Stearns, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-4.

Coming up, Penobscot Valley will be playing in front of their home fans against Schenck at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Howlers will need to watch out since the Wolverines have now posted at least ten runs in their last four matchups. As for Stearns, they are taking a road trip to face off against Lee Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Minutemen are facing the Pandas at the right time seeing as the Pandas are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
