The Dreher Blue Devils will square off against the York Cougars at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Dreher took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over Ridge View.
Rory McCormack was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-1.
In other batting news, Kendall Gipson was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Elle Lockard, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask York). They were the clear victors by an 18-1 margin over Richland Northeast on Thursday. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Cavaliers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Like Dreher, York also got a great game from a two-way player: Layla Clayton. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Clayton was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, York got a massive performance out of Blakely Whitby, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Kayla Johnson was another key player, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3.
York was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .560. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive matches.
Dreher's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for York, their victory bumped their record up to 8-3.
