Baseball Game Preview: Osceola Chieftains vs. St. Croix Central Panthers

For the second straight game, Osceola will face off against St. Croix Central. The Chieftains will venture away from home to face off against the Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Osceola came up short against St. Croix Central on Tuesday, falling 8-2. The Chieftains haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

For St. Croix Central's part, Eli Babler made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and only one walk). Babler was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

In other batting news, Everett Babler was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that he hit this season. Another player making a difference was Heath Kent, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

St. Croix Central pushed their record up to 4-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Osceola, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.
