Football Recap: Easton Valley Falls Short of Gladbrook-Reinbeck in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Easton Valley can now relate to. They were dealt a 56-6 defeat at the hands of the Gladbrook-Reinbeck Rebels on Friday. The matchup marked Easton Valley's lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Gladbrook-Reinbeck to victory, but perhaps none more so than Trevor Mathern, who rushed for 195 yards and three scores on only nine carries, and also threw for 88 yards and a pair of TDs. Those 195 rushing yards gave Mathern a new career-high. Treyvon Herron was in the mix too, providing Gladbrook-Reinbeck with two touchdowns.

Easton Valley's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 8-2. As for Gladbrook-Reinbeck, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.

Easton Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Gladbrook-Reinbeck, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Edgewood-Colesburg at 7:00 p.m. The Rebels will need to watch out since the Vikings have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
