Recap: Aspen Skiers vs. Delta Panthers

The Aspen Skiers had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.1 points), and they went ahead and made it eight on Friday. They had just enough and edged Delta out 58-55. Given Aspen's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while Delta is ranked 167th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Aspen got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Giovanni Seeman out in front who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. Kristo Klavins was another key contributor, scoring ten points.

Despite the loss, Delta still got an impressive performance from Tucker Johnson, who scored 27 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Johnson continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Logan Clay, who scored seven points along with five assists.

Aspen pushed their record up to 10-1 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.5 points per game. As for Delta, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-8.

Aspen will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Vail Mountain at 7:00 p.m. Delta won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Moffat County at 3:30 p.m. on January 20th. Moffat County is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 59.2 points per game.
