Basketball Recap: Verona Picks Up 25th Straight Win at Home

Verona waltzed into their contest on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They came out on top against the Watertown Goslings by a score of 54-42. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 40th, while the Goslings are ranked 221st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Verona's victory was their 25th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 24-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.2 points over those games. As for Watertown, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season.
