Recap: Alief Hastings Bears vs. Pearland Oilers
If The Alief Hastings Bears were feeling good off their 35-14 takedown of the Alvin Yellowjackets last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Alief Hastings took a 44-27 bruising from Pearland on Thursday. Alief Hastings has struggled against Pearland recently, as their matchup on Thursday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
It was another big night for Ladamion Mcdowell, who rushed for 242 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.5 yards per carry, and also picked up 112 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Mcdowell really tore up the turf during one magnificent 80-yard run. Cole Morkovsky was another key contributor, throwing for 266 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.6 yards per attempt.
Another reason for the win was Pearland's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. Leading the way was Joseph Credit and his two sacks.
Alief Hastings' loss was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-8. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 13.8 points per game. As for Pearland, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-2.
Alief Hastings does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Pearland will head out on the road to face off against Dickinson at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. Dickinson has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 364 points over their last eight contests.
