Volleyball Recap: La Porte's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Saturday

La Porte had taken Concord down for four straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Saturday. The Slicers took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Minutemen. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Slicers were not able to get on the board.

While La Porte had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-19.

Their offense was headlined by Evelyn Shirk and Madison Copeland, who picked up six kills apiece. Shirk also shared the team's lead in assists with Lilly Buckley: they picked up seven each. Finally, Tessa Koepke kept La Porte's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

Concord's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Claire Campanello led the charge by getting 12 digs and three aces. Campanello is also crushing it when it comes to assists: she's posted at least 16 every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Kaylen Troup, who had ten digs and two assists.

The defeat snapped La Porte's winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 4-3 record. As for Concord, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
