Baseball Game Preview: Kirtland Central Broncos vs. St. Pius X Sartans

For the second straight game, Kirtland Central will face off against St. Pius X. The Broncos will square off against the Sartans at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Kirtland Central heads in on the heels of a playoff matchup on Friday. They fell just short of St. Pius X by a score of 1-0. The Broncos have struggled against the Sartans recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

For St. Pius X's part, not much got past Hunter Jiron, who gave up just three hits and racked up ten Ks to keep Kirtland Central off the board. Jiron also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Sartans are undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 10-11 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Zain Unis, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

St. Pius X is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Kirtland Central, they now have a losing record of 13-14.
