Baseball Recap: Crooms Academy Takes a Loss

After soaring to 16 runs the game before, Crooms Academy was a bit more limited in their game on Thursday. They came up short against the Lake Mary Prep Griffins, falling 7-1. The loss continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Griffins: they've now lost six in a row.

Crooms Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Leland Smith, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI. That's the most hits Smith has posted since back in April of 2024.

The defeat was their first at home , dropping their record down to 3-3. As for Lake Mary Prep, their win ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Crooms Academy will venture away from home to face off against Lake Mary Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lake Mary Prep, they will head out on the road to challenge St. John Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
