Basketball Game Preview: Captain Shreve Gators vs. Airline Vikings

The Captain Shreve Gators will venture away from home to square off against the Airline Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Captain Shreve knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Airline likes a good challenge.

Last Tuesday, Captain Shreve was fully in charge, breezing past Benton 65-34. The Gators have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 games by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Airline came up short against Evangel Christian Academy on Tuesday and fell 53-44.

Captain Shreve is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 29-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points per game. As for Airline, their loss dropped their record down to 17-12.

Things could have been worse for Captain Shreve, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 72-54 loss to Airline when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Can Captain Shreve avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
