Gladewater and Atlanta are an even 5-5 against one another since October of 2015, but not for long. The Bears will square off against the Rabbits at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Gladewater comes in on five and Atlanta on eight.

Gladewater is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Tatum: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Bears blew the Eagles out of the water with a 33-6 final score. Considering the Bears have won five matchups by more than 25 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Gladewater's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Carsin Cooper led the charge by rushing for 106 yards on only 15 carries.

Cooper was just one part of a punishing run game: Gladewater was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 224 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 167 rushing yards in 13 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Atlanta beat Tatum 14-7 on Friday. Given the Rabbits' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 230th, while the Eagles are ranked 569th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Gladewater's record now sits at 7-1. As for Atlanta, their record is now 8-1.

Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Gladewater has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 267.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Atlanta struggles in that department as they've been averaging 149.9 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Gladewater was dealt a bruising 35-7 loss at the hands of Atlanta when the teams last played back in November of 2024. Can the Bears avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
