Softball Recap: Centennial Gets the Win

While Centennial's victory against Midlothian Heritage wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Spartans skirted past the Jaguars 5-3. The win continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Jaguars: they've now won five in a row.

Brooke Mayner made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Mayner wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ava Ellis, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Centennial now has a winning record of 2-1.

Coming up, Centennial will square off against Tomball at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Midlothian Heritage, they will take on East View in a tournament on Thursday.
