Football Game Preview: Morris Knolls Golden Eagles vs. Northern Highlands Highlanders + How To Watch

The Morris Knolls Golden Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Northern Highlands Highlanders at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

On Saturday, Morris Knolls came up short against West Essex and fell 39-26. While the Golden Eagles didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Knights 13-6 in the first quarter.

Loss or not, Morris Knolls got some senior leadership from Jaylin Jones and Timothy Wiedman. Jones rushed for 134 yards and two scores on only ten carries, while Wiedman rushed for 156 yards and one touchdown while picking up 7.8 yards per carry. Wiedman's longest rush was for an impressive 62 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

Meanwhile, Northern Highlands faced Ramapo in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Highlanders fell 28-21 to the Raiders. The Highlanders have struggled against the Raiders recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Northern Highlands' defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-2. As for Morris Knolls, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Morris Knolls was dealt a bruising 39-0 loss at the hands of Northern Highlands in their previous matchup back in November of 2019. Can the Golden Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
