Preview: Opp Bobcats vs. Brantley Bulldogs

Opp and Brantley are an even 3-3 against one another since December of 2014, but not for long. The Opp Bobcats will head out on the road to face off against the Brantley Bulldogs at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Opp has struggled recently with seven losses in a row, while Brantley will arrive with five straight wins.

On Thursday, Opp came up short against McKenzie and fell 62-52.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Josh Smith, who scored 12 points. Colby Ballard was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with eight rebounds and two steals.

Meanwhile, Brantley scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They came out on top against Florala by a score of 78-65. Brantley pushed the score to 62-41 by the end of the third, a deficit Florala cut but never quite recovered from.

It was another big night for Jayden Parks, who went 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 34 points and 5 assists. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last eight times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Daylan Davis, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds.

Opp dropped their record down to 2-21 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Brantley, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.

Opp might still be hurting after the 66-46 loss they got from Brantley in their previous meeting on January 4th. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Parks, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and ten rebounds. Now that Opp knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
