Cumberland took a nine-run loss the last time they faced off against Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Pirates sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Pirates.

Mia Holsapple spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Cumberland's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jade Carr, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Cumberland hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive matchups.

Cumberland's record now sits at 18-11. As for Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 18-8.

Coming up, Cumberland will be playing in front of their home fans against Tuscola at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last. As for Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg, they will head out to square off against St. Elmo/Brownstown at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
