Baseball Game Preview: Clarke County Eagles vs. Luray Bulldogs

The Clarke County Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Luray Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

Clarke County made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Central Woodstock, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Eagles fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 7-5 on Wednesday. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Luray entered their tilt with Madison County on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 win over the Mountaineers.

Camden Boyd was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Luray: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 6-7 otherwise. Gavin Sparks also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Luray pushed their record up to 9-7 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Clarke County, their loss dropped their record down to 11-6.

Clarke County might still be hurting after the 10-1 defeat they got from Luray when the teams last played last Monday. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
