Basketball Game Preview: Las Lomas Knights vs. Benicia Panthers

The Las Lomas Knights are taking a road trip to challenge the Benicia Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Las Lomas is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They really took it to Mt. Diablo for the full four quarters, racking up a 72-16 win. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 235th, while the Red Devils are ranked 1170th), the result on Wednesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Benicia had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.6 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Bears as they made off with a 67-47 victory. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 20 points or more this season.

Benicia pushed their record up to 11-8 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Las Lomas, their victory bumped their record up to 9-10.

Las Lomas beat Benicia 81-71 in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Las Lomas since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
