Preview: Spoto Spartans vs. Middleton Tigers
The Spoto Spartans will head out on the road to square off against the Middleton Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Middleton took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Spoto, who comes in off a win.
Spoto can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Brandon 71-24 at home. Spoto's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Meanwhile, Middleton's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They fell just short of Tampa Bay Tech by a score of 48-45. That's two games in a row now that Middleton has lost by exactly three points.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Ayanna Blake, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Blake is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Anaja Griffin, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Spoto's win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Middleton, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Spoto against Middleton in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 51-19 win. With Spoto ahead 35-11 at the half, the game was all but over already.
