Softball Recap: Foxcroft Academy Takes a Loss

Foxcroft Academy had lost four straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 3-10 to make it five. They came up short against the Mattanawcook Lynx, falling 11-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lynx this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-0 back in May.

As for Mattanawcook, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games.

For Mattanawcook's part, Julianna Cloukey was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Cloukey was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addison Cyr, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Megan House, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.

Coming up, Foxcroft Academy will take on Maine Central Institute on Tuesday. Mattanawcook does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
