North Duplin has gone a perfect 10-0 against Hobbton recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Rebels will look to defend their home field against the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. North Duplin is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
North Duplin proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 21) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Rosewood 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Rebels have posted since March 21st.
North Duplin's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Noa Quintanillia, who went 1-for-3 with one double.
Meanwhile, Hobbton got themselves on the board against Union on Tuesday, but Union never followed suit. They blew past the Spartans 16-0. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.
Ben Neal made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Neal was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-2. Hobbton is undefeated when Neal posts two or more runs, but 4-6 otherwise.
In other batting news, Thomas Tart was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Joe Corbett, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-1.
Hobbton hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in eight consecutive contests.
North Duplin has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Hobbton, their win bumped their record up to 12-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. North Duplin has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Hobbton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
North Duplin took their victory against Hobbton in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a conclusive 10-4 score. Will the Rebels repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
