Basketball Recap: Avenal Comes Up Short

Avenal was the 48-42 winner over Woodlake when they last played one another back in November, but their luck changed this time around. The Avenal Buccaneers took a 42-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Woodlake Tigers on Saturday.

Avenal has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for Woodlake, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Avenal will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Minarets at 6:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Woodlake, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Woodlake Tigers face off against the Orosi Cardinals at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
