Softball Game Preview: Mossyrock Vikings vs. Napavine Tigers

Mossyrock is 0-6 against Napavine since March of 2015 but things could change on Thursday. The Vikings will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tigers at 4:00 p.m.

Mossyrock lost 9-3 to Rainier on Monday.

Meanwhile, Napavine put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Castle Rock a 7-0 shutout. Considering the Tigers have won four matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Hannah Fay made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Fay was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hayden Kaut, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was her first of the season. Taylen Evander was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.

Napavine was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .394 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Mossyrock's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Napavine, their win bumped their record up to 5-2-1.

Mossyrock came up short against Napavine in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 20-16. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
