Softball Recap: Mulberry Makes It Four in a Row at Home

Mulberry won the last time they faced Lakeland and things went their way on Thursday too. Mulberry came out on top against Lakeland by a score of 5-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.

Laura Robinson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, Lorianys Castanon Cruz was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Jaylyn Oschmann also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Mulberry's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Lakeland, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mulberry will venture away from home to take on Fort Meade at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Mulberry's pitchers better be ready for this one: Fort Meade has averaged an impressive 9.2 runs per game this season. As for Lakeland, they will head out on the road to square off against Avon Park at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
