Football Game Preview: West Grand Mustangs vs. Plateau Valley Cowboys

West Grand has gone 7-2 against Plateau Valley recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Mustangs are taking a road trip to face off against the Cowboys at 7:00 p.m. West Grand knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Plateau Valley likes a good challenge.

West Grand's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 42-0 victory over Lake County. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Mustangs just coasted through the last quarter.

West Grand can attribute much of their success to Landon Lockhart, who rushed for 162 yards and one touchdown on only five carries, and Blake Terryberry, who threw for 176 yards and three TDs on only 14 passes. Those 162 rushing yards gave Lockhart a new career-high. Sanjay Geffers was Terryberry's top target, picking up 74 receiving yards and one score.

Meanwhile, Plateau Valley is still undefeated this season after their game against Vail Christian on Friday, but Vail Christian came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Cowboys sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 28-26 win over the Saints.

West Grand's record is now 3-1. As for Plateau Valley, their record now sits at 4-0.

West Grand came out on top in a nail-biter against Plateau Valley in their previous meeting back in September of 2024, sneaking past 38-36. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
