Basketball Preview: Lakeside Lutheran Warriors vs. River Valley Blackhawks
After two games on the road, Lakeside Lutheran is heading back home. They will take on the River Valley Blackhawks at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Friday, Lakeside Lutheran earned a 67-60 win over the Blue Devils. Given Lakeside Lutheran's advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 210th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lakeside Lutheran can attribute much of their success to Kaycee Guzman, who scored 16 points along with seven assists, and Wes Rahn, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Ben Krauklis was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Meanwhile, River Valley didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against the Flying Arrows on Friday, but they still walked away with a 55-49 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for River Valley.
Lakeside Lutheran's win bumped their record up to 17-2. As for River Valley, their win bumped their record up to 8-11.
Everything came up roses for Lakeside Lutheran against the Blackhawks in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 as the team secured a 63-20 victory. With Lakeside Lutheran ahead 38-7 at the half, the match was all but over already.
