Softball Recap: Anderson County Drops Highest Score of Season Against Scott

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Anderson County). They blew past the Scott Highlanders 15-0 on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Mavericks in their matchups with the Highlanders: they've now won seven in a row.

Cindle Justice was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Justice was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

In other pitching news, Addison Grooms looked comfortable as she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Reece Brock, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples and two runs. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Maci Benge also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Anderson County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .769. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Anderson County's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 13-7. As for Scott, their loss was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-7.

Anderson County has already played their next matchup, a 10-0 win against Cumberland Gap on the 3rd. As for Scott, they will face off against York Institute at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
