League recap: Lovejoy tops Luella to extend winning streak

AAAAAA Region 2 recap October 22, 2013

Lovejoy extended the longest winning streak in AAAAAA Region 2 this week by beating Luella, 51-7. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Wildcats.

The Lions lost to Lovejoy 51-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Quad Clemmons caught 1 pass for 37 yards in the loss.

Nic Vasilchek's team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Donald Hammond threw for 79 yards and Clemmons had 37 yards receiving. On the ground Mickell Delaine contributed 33 yards. Jaylon Harris helped Luella's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 14 yards.

The Lions' dynamic duo of Hammond and Clemmons proved tough for Al Hughes' team to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Harris helped Luella's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 14 yards.

Newton's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Rams feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Romario Johnson has thrown for 870 yards and 9 touchdowns this season, while Davonta Jones has 21 catches for 402 yards. Johnson also leads the league in rushing with 393 yards.

The Wildcats are currently in first, while Newton is in fifth.
