Baseball Recap: Flour Bluff Finds Home Field Redemption Against Gregory-Portland

There's no place like home for Flour Bluff, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. Everything went their way against the Gregory-Portland Wildcats on Tuesday as they made off with a 10-0 win. Considering the Hornets' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Not much got past Robert Moreno, who gave up just a hit and racked up seven Ks to keep Gregory-Portland off the board. Moreno has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Flour Bluff got a big performance out of Brayden Vancini, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs Vancini has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Brody Smith, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

Flour Bluff's record now sits at 12-13-2. As for Gregory-Portland, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-14.

Coming up, Flour Bluff will face off against King at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Gregory-Portland does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
