Softball Game Preview: Forks Spartans vs. Pe Ell/Willapa Valley

The Forks Spartans will face off against Pe Ell/Willapa Valley at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Forks knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Pe Ell/Willapa Valley likes a good challenge.

Forks' pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Tuesday. They put the hurt on Chief Leschi with a sharp 23-0 win. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by seven runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Pe Ell/Willapa Valley's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They lost 19-5 to Adna.

Sophia Milanowski was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Lauren Matlock was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Forks pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Pe Ell/Willapa Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2.

Forks beat Pe Ell/Willapa Valley 8-5 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
