North Stokes kept up with Elkin until halftime on Friday, but afterwards: not so much. The Buckin' Elks took their contest with ease, bagging a 39-12 win over the Vikings. The victory continues a trend for the Buckin' Elks in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won five in a row.

Hector Hernandez had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 208 yards and two scores on only 14 carries, and also threw for 33 yards and one touchdown while completing 71.4% of his passes.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Elkin was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 321 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Stokes only rushed for 49 rushing yards.

North Stokes' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jackson Bodenhamer, who picked up 90 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. Bodenhamer also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up a sack and making six total tackles. Another player making a difference was Noah Bennett, who threw for 207 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes.

Elkin's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for North Stokes, their loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2.

Elkin will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Forbush at 7:30 p.m. on September 12. As for North Stokes, they will venture away from home to challenge Jordan-Matthews at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
