Softball Recap: Rochester Makes It Three in a Row at Home

Rochester took a 11-run loss the last time they faced off against Bremen, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Zebras never let the Lions get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory on Saturday. That's two games straight that the Zebras have won by exactly two runs.

Not much got past Bria Rensberger, who gave up just two hits and racked up 17 Ks to keep Bremen off the board. Those 17 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Rensberger.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Aubrey Wilson, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Miller, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Rochester's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.67 runs across that stretch. As for Bremen, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-10.

Looking ahead, Rochester will take on Northfield at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Zebras' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Norsemen have averaged an impressive 9.5 runs per game this season. As for Bremen, they will square off against Jimtown at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Jimmies will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Lions surely won't give up without a fight.
