Volleyball Preview: Whitmer Panthers vs. Jackson Polar Bears
The Whitmer Panthers will head out to square off against the Jackson Polar Bears at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Whitmer sitting on four straight wins and Jackson on eight.
Whitmer proved they can win big on October 4th (they won by three) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Copley 3-2.
Whitmer had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 23-25, 18-25, 25-21, 25-17, 16-14.
Meanwhile, Jackson made easy work of Findlay on Tuesday and carried off a 3-0 victory.
The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-7, 25-17.
Whitmer better focus on containing Maren Evanto and Ellie Hepler as the pair were huge in Jackson's win. Evanto had 12 digs and two aces, while Hepler had four digs and two aces. That's the most aces Evanto has posted since back in September. Taylor Brownsword also deserves some recognition as she had her first blocks of the season.
Whitmer's record is now 14-9. As for Jackson, their record now sits at 18-5.
