Baseball Recap: Monday's Win Is York Institute's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

York Institute proved they can win big last Friday (they won by ten) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Monterey Wildcats 3-2. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 6-4 victory back in March.

The team relied heavily on Andrew Wright, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played.

York Institute has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games. As for Monterey, their loss dropped their record down to 8-10.

York Institute wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, an 11-1 defeat against Smith County on the 16th. As for Monterey, they have also already played their next game, a 4-2 victory against Watertown on the 15th.
